BUS-1010 - Introduction to Business
3 Credits
This course is an introduction to the characteristics, organization, and operation of business, including organization and management, production planning and control, marketing, finance, day-to-day operations in the areas of accounting, personnel, research and development, and management information systems.

BUS-1125 - Startup 802 - An Entrepreneurship Mindset
1 Credits
This course provides an introduction to the entrepreneurial mindset and elements required for successful small business start-up. Students are exposed to personal skills and traits which enhance entrepreneurial success including creativity, curiosity, systems thinking, partnership, and collaboration.

BUS-1135 - Introduction to Digital Marketing
3 Credits
This course provides an overview of the business value of digital marketing and ways it can be used to attract, convert, and retain customers. Students are introduced to the broad array of digital interactive marketing programs used to achieve business goals including search engine optimization, online display advertising, email marketing, site optimization, social media, mobile marketing, and online analytics. Students learn the key differences between digital and non-digital marketing and the advantages and disadvantages of both. Topics include the critical metrics used to assess and improve marketing campaigns, including methodologies for tracking the impact of online channels such as e-mail, paid search (pay-per-click), organic search (SEO), and display/banner ads.

BUS-2020 - Principles of Management
3 Credits
This course is an introduction to the philosophy, principles, and techniques of management. Students will examine classical, modern, and emerging concepts as they relate to today’s manager and the functional processes of planning, organizing, directing and controlling resources. Learning experiences may include case studies, team experiences and simulations.

BUS-2140 - Personal Finance
3 Credits
A study of the tools used in personal financial planning. The student is introduced to the process used by professional planners and shown how this can be helpful in planning their own financial futures.

BUS-2210 - Small Business Management
3 Credits
This course explores the practical aspects of organizing and managing a small business. It is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to make informed business decisions. Topics include the basic concepts of accounting, finance, cash management, taxes, business law, government regulations, staffing, and marketing.

BUS-2230 - Principles of Marketing
3 Credits
This course introduces the role of marketing as it relates to manufacturing, wholesale, retail, and service businesses. Topics include product development, pricing decisions, promotional considerations, and distribution options of both goods and services. Students also examine the emerging role of electronic marketing and its impact on today’s businesses.

BUS-2410 - Human Resource Management
3 Credits
This course examines the critical issues and the strategic questions that must be considered when managing diverse groups of people in today’s workplace. Topics include: selecting, training, and evaluating personnel; compensation; health and safety; bargaining units; motivation; morale; and human relations.

BUS-2430 - Small Business Marketing
3 Credits
This course is an introduction to principles and techniques of marketing with specific applications to the small business: problems and solutions in marketing research, advertising, pricing, and selling. Topics include data collection and interpretation, choice and use of media, analyzing marketing mix and pricing in small business situations, and the principles and stages of the selling process.

BUS-2440 - Introduction to Business Law
3 Credits
This course provides an introduction to the principles and practices of law as it applies to business operations and the legal and constitutional environment of business. The course focuses on contract law, the Uniform Commercial Code, negotiable instruments, commercial transactions, debtor and creditor rights, bankruptcy, and agency relationships.

BUS-2740 - Business Analysis & Decision Making
3 Credits
This capstone course for the Business degree requires students to apply their theoretical and practical knowledge of management, economics, accounting, technology, business law, and marketing to case studies involving a variety of business environments. Students are required to apply knowledge of financial statements in case studies and business scenarios, reviewing business practices, and making recommendations or decisions for future actions within a business setting. Prerequisites: Introduction to Business, Financial Accounting, Principles of Management or Small Business Management, and Principles of Marketing or Small Business Marketing.
