Course Description

This course provides an introduction to the entrepreneurial mindset and elements required for successful small business start-up. Students are exposed to personal skills and traits which enhance entrepreneurial success including creativity, curiosity, systems thinking, partnership, and collaboration.

Essential Objectives

1. Understand and develop entrepreneurial attitudes, behaviors, and skills.
2. Identify social and situational factors that encourage or inhibit entrepreneurial behavior.
3. Identify the required steps to launching a new business.
4. Evaluate potential business ventures in the current economic climate.

Methods

This is a self-paced asynchronous course which means that students will be starting and progressing at different rates throughout the term. Once you feel like you have a strong handle on the material, and you have completed all of the assignments for the module, you should feel comfortable moving on, regardless of the pace, as long as you complete the course within the term timeframe.

Weekly Schedule

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance and participation in classes are essential for success in and are completion requirements for courses at CCV. A student's failure to meet attendance requirements as specified in course descriptions will normally result in a non-satisfactory grade.

• In general, missing more than 20% of a course due to absences, lateness or early departures may jeopardize a student's ability to earn a satisfactory final grade.
• Attending an on-ground or synchronous course means a student appeared in the live classroom for at least a meaningful portion of a given class meeting. Attending an online course means a student posted a discussion forum response, completed a quiz or attempted some other academically required activity. Simply viewing a course item or module does not count as attendance.
• Meeting the minimum attendance requirement for a course does not mean a student has satisfied the academic requirements for participation, which require students to go above and beyond simply attending a portion of the class. Faculty members will individually determine what constitutes participation in each course they teach and explain in their course descriptions how participation factors into a student's final grade.

Participation Expectations

Although this is a flex course, you should do your best to log in 3-5 times weekly for 15-25 minutes to complete work for this course on a regular basis.

Missing & Late Work Policy

You should complete the first 3 modules by the midpoint of the semester and the remaining with 1-2 weeks remaining to give you time to finish any work.
